We started as apes long ago,

with nothing to wear, nowhere to go.

Now we have so much more, life has improved,

But sometimes it feels like we haven’t really moved.

Why do we strip away, what we’ve worked so hard to gain?

Why call it fashion when it brings us pain?

They say “protect your daughters,” yes, of course, teach them to be strong,

But guide your sons too, to know right from wrong.

I’ve read my textbooks, studied the laws,

But what I see outside fills me with pause.

People are selfish, they chase wealth,

forgetting that true wealth is health.

Wars rage on, innocents fall,

The news doesn’t speak of the sorrow of all.

Leaders leave when things go wrong,

WHERE IS THE PEACE? WHERE DO WE BELONG?

Two sides of life, one blessed, one bare,

one feasts in plenty while the other is in despair.

Farmers work, soldiers fight,

So we can sleep in peace each and every night.

At 13, I see the pain,

why can’t we live as one again?

Influencers speak, but is it real?

Words without heart, don’t heal, don’t feel.

We share this earth, under one sky,

yet choose to hurt and make the others cry.

Why do we keep forgetting, that even if we are near or far,

we are all connected by the same star.

I am just 13, but I see,

A world that needs to be truly free.
